Look no further! This company is AMAZING!

Here's my story:


I live in L.A., but recently inherited a house in El Paso. Right before I was supposed to head back to L.A., I found out that my step-brother had some concerns about my roof. This took me totally by surprise.


Panicked, I went online to find a roofer. I sent out a general Yelp message, wherein various roofers either didn't respond, or responded with the ever-so-classy "yeah when you wanna schedule", then didn't show up. It was a holiday weekend, so I wasn't surprised that the only people responding were total schlubs, and I was feeling increasingly hopeless that I would find someone I could trust.


I can't remember where I found Mann & Sons Roofing but I am SO glad I did! Shawn answered his phone the first time I called, even though he was out of town for a family holiday. Better yet, he spoke in complete sentences. I told him that I was about to go back to LA, and I'm sure he could tell I was pretty stressed about that, so he put me at the top of the list. He even said he'd have one of his employees come out to take a look that same weekend to see what needed to be done.


The employee he sent out that day, Lalo, is wonderful. Like Shawn, he is very friendly, honest, hard-working, and pleasant to talk to. He told me right away that he could see I needed to get my roof replaced, but I mean... of course he did. Why wouldn't he, right? Isn't that what any good salesperson would tell me? However, he then showed me the difference between my roof and those of my neighbors', explained to me why mine was the way it was, and texted me a bunch of pictures he took while he was up there. It was crazy talking to a guy who didn't just mumble and grunt at me, but was articulate and treated me with respect.


Shawn called me shortly after Lalo left, and reiterated Lalo's findings. He said he was coming back to town the following week, but would try to get things rolling before then. He again told me that I was at the top of his list of roofing jobs. So of course I start thinking, "He probably charms everyone by telling them that. I'm sure nothing is going to be done for weeks. Besides, this is all happening so fast that it must be too good to be true. Yeah...for sure these guys are snowing me."


But then Shawn goes on to tell me that I needed to report this to my insurance company, because the damage to my roof warranted a claim. He explained to me, in painstaking detail, what to expect moving forward, and how I would probably not wind up paying for anything.


Okay. This bought him some believability. But I was still guarded. It's just too easy for someone in a profession like this to take advantage of someone as inexperienced as I am.


Either way, I took Shawn's advice and filed a claim with my insurance company. They then sent an adjuster out who confirmed everything Shawn had said and deposited the first half of the money into my account. I'm embarrassed to say that I was still scared. I mean, I knew I had to give Shawn that money so that he could buy all the necessary supplies, but I'm still thinking this is all just too good to be true. This whole experience has just been way too smooth.


At any rate, with my choices being so limited at this point, I just held my breath and (slow exhale) gave him the money.


And wouldn't you know...


His team did the job. And they did it well. And they did it in a timely manner. And they were amazing.


On top of that, Shawn called and/or texted me EVERY SINGLE DAY with updates and plans, sending me current pics of my roof that the workers had sent him, and asking how I felt things were going. Even more than that, all of his employees worked tirelessly in 105 degree weather, without any shade to protect them. And EVEN MORE THAN THAT... everyone was so nice! They always had smiles on their faces despite the arduous conditions they were laboring under. Plus, I can't tell you what a warm, sweet feeling it was to have people wave to me from my roof every time I left my house or came back. It felt like I was in a storybook where everyone is perfect and everything turns out perfectly. Shawn and Lalo and the entire team of guys who worked on my house could seriously write a book on how to do go above and beyond for a client.


--UPDATE-- I got back to Los Angeles a week later and immediately got a text from my neighbor that my A/C was leaking. I was a total loss about what to do, but then decided to call Shawn to see if someone could check to see if something happened when the A/C unit was moved during the job.


Sure enough, he sends Lalo right out there, who fixed the problem immediately, even though it had nothing to do with the roofing job. And neither of them would accept money from me. (!)


Integrity, professionalism, friendliness and a strong work ethic only begin to describe Shawn and Lalo and their team. I am so lucky I found them. This was, without a doubt, the best professional experience I've ever had.
